When we first got the house, we closed up Alaka'i's closet, to add the footage to the bathroom. His room has been without a closet for the past 2.5 years, so Jacob just built one during the last few weeks. Here's how he did it:
He put the entire closet on a frame, which is where the twin trundle bed used to be.
Alaka'i was there to help almost every step of the way.
This was the messiest step. He sanded all the nail patching. The fine white powder covering every surface brought back many memories. Thankfully, we have a good vacuum.
He started the paint job.
And I got to finish it! I put Alaka'i in the crib with all his favorite noise-making, button-filled toys while I painted, and then he napped in our room to avoid paint fumes.
This is mostly finished. Now he is just going to add all the decorative molding to the top, bottom and sides.
Alaka'i had a blast playing in here while I set it up today. Daddy, you did an amazing job!
